Kentra - A beach of "singing sands",
where the sand grains squeak when scuffed by feet, is
found at Camus an Lighe in the bay of Loch Ceann Traigh.
A narrow channel links Loch Ceann Traigh to Kentra Bay
that is home to overwintering Greenland white-fronted
geese.
Low tide reveals extensive areas of mud and sandflats
in Kentra Bay and upper Loch Moidart. Their combined
area of soft sediments is amongst the most extensive
in the north-west of Scotland. Loch Moidart is fringed
by saltmarsh, surrounded by blanket bog, marshy grassland
and oak and birch woodlands that bustle with birdlife.
